In February 2006, we visited Palatiw Elementary School in Pasig City, Philippines. With approximately 3000 students from Grade I to IV awaits in a court yard to welcome us along with about 77 teachers and 9 support staff. LIFEworks provided pencils to all Grade I, II, and III studentsand a drawing contest was held for Grade IV and Grade V students. The theme for their “On The Spot Drawing Contest” was LIFE. The students were asked to draw their answers as to how they see LIFE or what LIFE means to them.

 

 

October 2006 the project was fulfilled.  LIFEworks went back to he Philippines distribute the school supplies.  Although there was much preparation in putting together each package customized to each grade, all the efforts were worth itWhat a wonderful surprise when we were told by faculty members that a full event program was created commemorating this day.  At the courtyard sat over 5000 children came to witness this event.  The children performed dances and various speeches around kindness and sharing were conveyed. 

 

 

One by one, 1600 children from grades 1 - 3 filed in line to receive their precious supplies with such gratitude in each child’s eyes.  What an amazing experience that has been for us. The joy it brought to our lives to see every child’s smile. Definitely a memory that will always be treasured.
We sometime take things for granted and don’t realize how lucky and fortunate we are for what we have.
